Although the mechanism is malfunctioned and an error occurs during the runtime with the stack trace being issued, the software process is not properly terminated. The software client is still attempting to maintain the connection even though the network connection information is being reset live. In that insecure mode the "FrmAdvancedProtection" component crashs but the process continues to run with different errors and process corruptions. Proof of Concept (PoC): ======================= The local corruption vulnerability can be exploited by local attackers without user interaction with privileged system user account. For security demonstration or to reproduce the vulnerability follow the provided information and steps below to continue. Manual steps to reproduce ... 1. Install the perfect privacy vpn manager software client 2. Start the software 3. Connect to a random vpn server of the server list 4. Move to settings and open the others tab 5. Reset the network settings in the live running mode Note: Multiple errors and uncaught exceptions occur and the process continues to run 6. Successful reproduce of the issue! Solution - Fix & Patch: ======================= The issue has been resolved by the vpn manager development team due to the 2017-10-18. The patched version is available by download via perfect privacy vpn software client in v1.10.12.
