After the new idevice version and the latest ios versions 12.0 and 12.0.1, the problem became usable again by using Siri, Voiceover and a simple ui glitch. The problem has been known since 2017 Q4 and was reported several times in 2018 Q1. The vulnerability issue was released in September 2018 by another friendly researcher without an available patch. The problem should be fixed with the new version ios 12.0.2. The problem was that Apple did not take seriously the problem with the SMS response, the voice-over function and the accessibility by Siri and so the misconfiguration was not completely fixed in the release. Together with the touch screen or an externally attached keyboard, the interaction allows access to the sensitive data of the latest Apple iOS devices. The hack was tested on ios 11 and 12 with the following devices: iphone 6s, iphone 7, ipad pro and iphone xs. If you connect a keyboard to the old devices via usb for the touch screen, the vulnerability under version 11 can be exploited as it is on new devices under version 12.x. The following devices are tested with iphone 6s, iphone 7, ipad pro and iphone xs. The video shows the issue with the ios v11.x version on a iphone 6s demonstrated in december 2017 and january 2018. The issue shows the way on how the bug was in the first instance uncovered by the used functions and method of interaction by the internal researcher. To followup you can as well preview the older articles and issues about the uncovered side issue. https://www.vulnerability-lab.com/get_content.php?id=2012 https://www.vulnerability-lab.com/get_content.php?id=2078 Credits & Authors: ================== Vulnerability-Lab [admin@vulnerability-lab.com] - https://www.vulnerability-lab.com/show.php?user=Vulnerability-Lab Disclaimer & Information: ========================= The information provided in this advisory is provided as it is without any warranty.
